NFIP changes could hit New Jersey homeowners

The approximately 200,000 New Jersey residents living in flood-prone areas along the shore and near rivers could see their premiums rise if Congress requires more homeowners to join the federal flood program or makes other changes it is considering. Federal action may result in more expensive policies for homeowners at higher risk, and coverage bans or limits for pricey vacation homes, lawmakers say.
