Debate expected in Fla. over NPs' services in retail clinics

Debate is expected to increase in the state about what types of services nurse practitioners who work at walk-in retail health clinics should be allowed to provide. Nurse practitioners feel that they should be allowed to prescribe, for instance, cough medicine with codeine, which is currently prohibited, but Florida's physician group is opposed to that. Other nursing issues on state lawmakers' agendas include getting more faculty members at nursing schools and mandatory nurse-patient ratios.
