Newspaper book reviews in decline

Book publishers tend to spend their marketing budgets on in-store promotions and co-op advertising at the big chains like Barnes & Noble and Borders, leaving very little money left to advertise in traditional media. As a result, book review sections in newspapers, which rely on ads from publishers, are increasingly being eliminated or reduced in size.
