Nonprofit recognizes Seattle house built to withstand disasters

A nonprofit group supported by the insurance industry has awarded a new house in West Seattle national certification for its ability to withstand disasters. Its concrete construction meets seismic standards 20% above code requirements, and its roof-to-wall and wall-to-foundation connections can withstand wind gusts up to 130 miles per hour.
