Home sales could rebound in California, economist says

Home sales could rebound in certain areas of California by the end of 2009, according to Ken Simonson, chief economist of the Associated General Contractors of America. "California had twice the sales in January as a year ago," said Simonson at the AGC national convention in San Diego. However, Simonson also said that private-sector construction continues to shrink, due to weak demand for office buildings, industrial parks and shopping centers.
