How to do the right thing more often

Companies often face dilemmas, in which the ethical course of action comes with some short-term costs. Even when there is long-term benefit to the "right" choice, it can still be difficult for an executive to make wise decisions when a firm's culture is exclusively profit-driven, writes Art Kleiner. To make it easier to do the right thing, Kleiner says, companies should work on instilling greater capacities for consciousness, discipline and empathy in all their workers.
