VoLGA Forum offers alternative LTE approach

Led by T-Mobile and a group of telecom-equipment makers, some backers of the Long-Term Evolution 4G standard have formed the VoLGA Forum to push for a proprietary set of specifications that would support circuit-switched voice and messaging services, according to an Internet report. The move comes as industry statistics show that 26 global carriers are preparing to launch an LTE-based 4G network.
