Cottage food laws aim to give artisans a start

Many states prohibit the sale of food items produced in home kitchens, and the costs of finding a commercial kitchen can prove prohibitive. Some states, including California and New Hampshire, are considering new laws that would allow the sale of relatively small amounts of certain homemade products in an effort to help aspiring food entrepreneurs get started.
