N.C. pilot program asks students about teacher performance

Beginning in the spring, 29 North Carolina school districts will solicit feedback from students about their teachers. The survey eventually could become a factor in teachers' evaluations. The surveys -- funded through a federal Race to the Top grant -- will be administered to 150,000 students whose teachers have volunteered for the pilot program. Officials say the surveys are intended to ask meaningful questions about teachers' performance, not gauge whether students like their teachers.
