UK students struggle with writing, professor says

Robert Tombs, professor of history at St John's College, Cambridge, says undergraduate students in the United Kingdom are struggling to write. At issue, suggests Tombs, is the rigid, formulaic approach to writing taught in earlier grades, which he said has limited even top students' ability to effectively communicate through writing.
