U.S., China wrap up study of Chinese shale-gas basin

The U.S. Geological Survey, China's National Energy Administration and PetroChina have finished an initial study of an onshore shale natural gas basin in China. The Shanxi and Taiyuan formations in the eastern part of the Liaohe Basin potentially contain about 448 billion cubic feet of technically recoverable unconventional natural gas and 2 million barrels of natural gas liquids, according to the study.
