Concrete facade among new details for $555M museum expansion

A 10-floor rectangular block with a white concrete exterior designed by Snøhetta is one of the new details of the $555 million San Francisco Museum of Modern Art expansion project intended to open up the "fortress." Craig Dykers, the principal architect, said, "The museum shouldn't be purely seen as an educational experience but a social experience as well." Construction is expected to start this summer and take about three years to complete.
