Ind. schools are recognized for focus on student nutrition

Two schools in an Indiana school district that recently were recognized by Michelle Obama's Healthier U.S. School Challenge underwent a change in philosophy when turning their focus to students' health and nutrition. Schools began giving students rewards that did not involve food and expanding offerings of fruits and vegetables. At one school, kitchen manager Karen Hoover said students particularly enjoy raw carrots and cauliflower, as well as brown rice and hummus.
