Study: Americans eat fewer calories, but obesity persists

Although daily energy intake dropped by 74 calories between 2003 and 2010, the obesity rate in women remained at 35% from 1999 to 2010 and increased among men from 27% to 35% in the same period, according to the CDC. Experts offer several possible explanations, including that people may not be getting sufficient exercise. The research appears in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
