The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority this month held a conference on diversity, but news reporters were not allowed to attend. Reporter Mason Braswell writes that the decision to discuss the matter in private is holding back progress. Lazetta Braxton, founder of Financial Fountains and former head of the FPA's diversity committee, agrees that more discussion is important. "What I would like to hear is more white men talking about how this conversation rests with them because I think this whole fear element of feeling displaced -- when you have not had to deal with that as a population -- is a challenge that is going to keep stifling this transition," she said.
