Facebook-WhatsApp deal draws scrutiny from privacy groups

Privacy advocates are calling for a Federal Trade Commission investigation of the Facebook-WhatsApp deal to clarify whether Facebook will change the messaging service's policy of not using member data for advertising. Facebook issued a statement in response saying, "As we have said repeatedly, WhatsApp will operate as a separate company and will honor its commitments to privacy and security."
