NIGMS hopes funds will spur innovation in developing natural products

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences is seeking projects that utilize genomic and metagenomic sequencing databases and synthetic biology in the development of natural products. The organization is offering $4.5 million to fund research finding ways to generate natural products that can be used to create antibacterial and anticancer drugs, agency officials said.
