USDA seeks comment on how to minimize costs of food labeling law

About 12 states will obtain public comments on a law that requires listing a product's country of origin. The USDA estimates that the food labeling law could cost farmers and the food industry about $2 billion. The Food Marketing Institute warned that companies may be forced to pass the increased costs along to customers.
