DuPont emerging as competitor for biotech corn, soybean

Monsanto's pioneering work on biotech seeds is now facing competition from other companies, leading the head of the farm bureau in DuPont's home state of Delaware to hail the developments as likely making the biotech seeds for corn and soybeans cheaper for farmers. DuPont is the world's largest producer of conventional corn and soybean seeds, but it also licenses the rights to Monsanto's Roundup Ready traits, a practice it now hopes to replace with its own seed traits in the next few years.
