Food environment isn't tied to obesity, study finds

A study of 13,000 California children found no link between local food sources, such as fast-food restaurants and supermarkets, and what children ate or how much they weighed. The lead researcher said transportation might explain the lack of connection because people who drive everywhere do not depend on food options in their neighborhood. The findings were published in the Journal of Preventive Medicine.
