IHS iSuppli: Slower growth seen this year for automotive chips

The global market for semiconductors going into automotive infotainment systems is forecast to increase 3% this year to $6.67 billion, down from the 4% growth reported in 2012, according to IHS iSuppli. Decreased revenue in aftermarket sales and the ongoing decline in personal navigation devices are said to be behind the slight slowdown this year. The market research sees better growth resuming in 2014 and the following years, with the auto infotainment IC market rising to $8.54 billion in 2018.
