Listening is a big part of the job for hospice volunteer

Helping hospice patients attracts volunteers on emotional and intellectual levels, Pennsylvania hospice volunteer coordinator Cris Bagby says. One of the most important roles they can play is that of listener. "It is such an extraordinary honor to be asked by a patient or family member to be a part of their process. ... To me, volunteering is a sacred experience," she said.
