Buckeye asks FCC to OK hybrid set-top box for IP transition

Buckeye Cablevision has asked the Federal Communications Commission to permit the use of a QAM/IP hybrid set-top box that would deploy integrated and downloaded security features. Buckeye, which seems to be the first U.S. cabler to market such a request, said the device will serve as "the linchpin" to its shift to all-IP.
