Feds are likely to approve Comcast-TWC merger, AT&T CEO says

Comcast's "industry-redefining deal" to take control of Time Warner Cable will likely gain federal approval, albeit with some conditions, according to AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson. As a result, AT&T is ramping up its high-speed fiber-optic network upgrade, with Dallas coming next, Stephenson said at an investor conference. In related news, Bill Baer, chief of the Justice Department's antitrust unit, will have to recuse himself from the review because he worked for a law firm that represented NBCUniversal when it was taken over by Comcast in 2011.
