Hearst exec: Transparency key for native ads

The native advertising that runs alongside online editorial on the websites of Hearst magazines including Elle and Cosmopolitan is not a huge departure from print advertorials from the past 40 years, according to Chief Revenue Officer Todd Haskell. As in print, transparency in that ad content is a must for readers, he said, adding, "Our approach is that if it's going to be branded, it needs to be very clearly branded."
