Wild cucumbers may be key to long life for domestic cousin

Boosting domestically grown cucumbers with the DNA of wilder varieties could make them more resistant to blight and disease if a new project at the Agricultural Research Service is successful. Longer-lasting cucumbers will help meet the consumer demand for fresh-cut produce, the fastest growing segment of the fresh produce industry.
