There are all types of smarts, he admits, but right-brain, creative types usually make the best founders. Guts help the entrepreneur power through regardless of what others think. And luck? "As I think back on the ups and downs of my prior entrepreneurial experiences, I am certainly grateful for my kismet being on the right side more often than wrong," Tjan writes.
