Academic experts to conduct research focused on EMRs

Researchers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute are set to start a three-year project that will look into how health IT programs affect primary-care organizations, patients and delivery systems. The study, which will be funded by a $750,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, will focus on two U.S.-based institutions, as well as one each in Israel and Canada. The findings could be used to develop best-practices guidelines on implementing HIT in other facilities.
