Asian markets mostly gain as resource-related shares advance

Markets across the Asian-Pacific region mostly advanced Monday as investor sentiment improved. Japan's Nikkei 225 jumped 2.1%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 climbed 0.9% and South Korea's Kospi Composite added 1.6%. China's Shanghai Composite rose 0.7%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index advanced 2% and Taiwan's Taiex gained 1.3%. New Zealand's NZX 50 inched up 0.3%, while Singapore's Straits Times Index gained 1.6% and India's Sensex was up 0.7% in afternoon trading.
