Few hospices have a policy on deactivation of ICD

A survey of hospices in the U.S. found 95% have admitted patients with active implantable cardioverter defibrillators and 58% have had at least one patient with an ICD experience a shock. Only 10% of hospices had a policy about discussing deactivation of the devices with patients and families.
