Older centers in Cincinnati are falling to rising vacancies

Increasingly the older retail centers in the greater Cincinnati area are becoming troubled as anchor tenants depart and vacancies rise. Fort Wright Plaza is one example -- Tappan Properties acquired it fully occupied in 2003. Now it is 70% vacant. "To make a long, miserable story short, we lost our shirt on this property," said Charles Tappan, president of the company.
