Call logs recount chaos minutes before San Bruno blast

As long as 30 minutes before a natural-gas pipeline exploded in flames in San Bruno, Calif., last September, PG&E workers knew there was a problem. "We're screwed, we're screwed," said one operator after it appeared that a poor repair job at the Milpitas control station caused a nonstop flow of natural gas, according to call logs released by the National Transportation Safety Board. PG&E was not immediately available for comment on the call logs.
