Is pop culture harmful to students?

Pop culture icons are not positive role models for students; this educator says that such images might be harmful to students. Michael C. Obel-Omia, head of school at the Paul Cuffee School in Providence, R.I., writes that he works daily to combat the harm that pop culture does to students. He says female pop icons often project negative images to girls, and male stars often glamorize the gangster culture for boys.
