Hotels are rushing to buy fixed pool lifts to comply with changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act in time for the March 15 deadline, as observers predict that cost concerns will drive some properties to close their pools. Meanwhile AH&LA continues to speak out for the industry regarding the issue, bringing it up during the recent Legislative Action Summit in Washington. "There's no question [we] will continue to press for fair and reasonable measures to replace unnecessary and costly provisions," said Joseph McInerney, AH&LA's president and CEO.
