N.C. district offering $10 million in iPad grants for schools

A North Carolina school district is planning to distribute $10 million in iPad tablet computers and technology training to teams of teachers who propose the best ways to "meet the needs of the 21st century digital learner," with funding for the grants coming from county coffers. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district in January spent $1.2 million on iPads for all its school administrators and is planning for all schools to have wireless Internet service starting in August.
