Polymer-based additive increases efficiency of photovoltaic systems

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a method to infuse polymers into an organic material to produce cheaper photovoltaic cells. The polymer-based solar cell combines donor and acceptor conductive polymers to achieve a linear flow of electricity in the material. The additives "open a new direction to polymer solar cell research," said Yang Yang of the University of California at Los Angeles.
