Sustainable building standards gain traction across the world

Green building certifications from the U.S., Germany and Britain are spreading to other parts of the world as multinational firms seek to enhance their environmental reputations. About 5,700 projects outside the U.S. have registered for LEED certification, indicating a "dramatic uptick" in international interest for the green building standard, said Scot Horst, senior vice president for LEED at the U.S. Green Building Council.
