Hawaii occupancy rates up slightly, but tide's still low for Japanese tourism market

Hawaii's hotel occupancy rates for January rose slightly over the same period last year, but a slump in Japanese tourism continued to hurt Oahu, a new travel survey says. The PKF-Hawaii survey showed state occupancy rates increased 3.65% to 75.54% from 72.88% in January 2003, but Oahu occupancy rates dropped to 76.20% from 77.07% due to a weak Japanese tourism market.
