Berkeley schools launch new program to encourage healthy eating

Passionate advocates of healthy eating, like renowned chef Alice Waters and Berkeley Unified School District Director of Nutrition Services Ann Cooper, believe public schools must make the teaching of nutrition to children a priority. The district's School Lunch Initiative is using school gardens, kitchen classrooms and prepared-from-scratch cafeteria fare to break children's junk-food habits.
