Starcom savoring hometown win with United account

United Airlines' decision to award media-planning duties to Chicago-based Starcom USA marked a kind of hometown victory for the shop, which was spun off several years ago from Leo Burnett, creator of the airline's famous tagline, "Fly the Friendly Skies." But since 1996, domestic creative duties have been handled by Fallon, Minneapolis, and media planning has been divided among different agencies.
