Balanced exercise routine mitigates effects of aging

A well-rounded exercise routine for middle-age adults can help offset the aches and pains associated with aging and lower the risk of some chronic diseases, according to the Mayo Clinic. Experts say people should try to include five types of activity -- aerobics, strengthening, stretching, balance and "core stability" training that focuses on the muscles of the trunk.
