California homeowners eye alternatives to lawns

Homeowners in California are looking at alternatives to water-hungry lawns, such as drought-resistant gardens or artificial turf. "It's not just the early adopters anymore," said Nan Sterman, who teaches water conservation classes in El Cajon. "It's (average) people who are really getting the sense that we have to do something."
