Chemical industry brings TSCA reform suggestions to lawmakers

U.S. chemical-industry executives urged lawmakers to modernize the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 but warned against instituting European-style chemical reforms, saying they consisted of arbitrary testing and evaluation requirements. The executives also argued that the U.S. must enact policies promoting disclosure as well as lay down a system where the Environmental Protection Agency can assess chemicals in a timely manner.
