CDC and other public health officials at a conference on sexually transmitted diseases noted that improvements have been made in monitoring and treatment, as well as determining risk factors, but said disparities in STD rates among certain populations remain. Experts noted the U.S. has high rates of herpes, particularly among women and African-Americans.
