Managing "Saturday Night Live"'s neurotic writers, diva-ish actors and frankly disgusting comedians is no joke, writes Tina Fey. To get a show on the air, "SNL" leaders had to learn to put productivity ahead of creativity, to coax workers to overcome their own craziness and to settle for producing a show that's good enough rather than absolutely perfect. "It will never be perfect, but perfect is overrated," Fey writes. "Perfect is boring on live television."
