How to make Facebook users look beyond your profile photo

Facebook users make snap judgments about one another based on profile photos, and typically only turn to profile text to inform their judgments when a profile photo offers an unusual or negative impression of its subject, researchers say. That suggests brands should consider using quirky or unusual images on their pages, Emil Protalinski writes. "If a profile picture fits what [Facebook users] expect, they are unlikely to dig for more information before forming an impression," Protalinski writes.
