OCC lets Capital One move ahead with HSBC card acquisition

Capital One Financial's acquisition of HSBC Bank USA's credit card portfolio has received the green light from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which concluded that the transaction "does not pose a risk to the U.S. banking or financial system." The deal is expected to boost the assets of Capital One's main bank subsidiary, Capital One N.A., by 16% to about $154 billion.
