High BMI doesn't appear to interfere with rubidium-82 cardiac PET

Rubidium-82 cardiac PET appears promising for imaging obese patients, a new study has found. A total of 7,061 patients who were evaluated with Rb-82 PET myocardial perfusion imaging were classified according to BMI and followed for cardiac death and all-cause mortality, and researchers found the approach "has incremental prognostic value in all patients, irrespective of BMI." Details of the study appear in JACC Cardiovascular Imaging.
