BYU students hope to float concrete boat

With their eyes on a prize at the American Society of Civil Engineering's Rocky Mountain Conference competition, students from Brigham Young University are constructing a canoe from the most unlikely of materials: concrete. Mark Butler, the captain of the BYU team, is confident his 18-foot, 300-pound boat will float, since it was designed to displace 1,500 pounds of water. "I'm positive that it's going to work out," he said.
