Survey: Most NYC elementaries lacking in the arts department:

Just 4% of New York City elementary schools meet all of the state's arts-education requirements, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said in announcing the results of a citywide survey. Richard Kessler, executive director of the Center for Arts Education, said, "With the elimination of Project Arts, cuts to the school budget, a lack of licensed arts teachers, and many school administrators lacking in the skills necessary to administer the arts, we may be looking at a perfect storm brewing for arts education."
